![]() ![]() Now that we know where these password systems work we feel great and look like hackers, but that is just the introduction. ![]() Windows systems use the registry system to reference file systems and the corresponding registry for this file is the HKLM category. The Windows Operating System stores hashed passwords in a Windows Security Account Manager file located in the configuration file in the system root. This system converts the password into random strings through advanced encryption, and the hash is often complicated to reverse, unlike the standard encryption. The Windows Password System is just similar to the conventional database systems we use on most of our activities. The plain text is the weakest of the four password systems whereas salting is the strongest because it adds an extra layer to hashed passwords. These systems include Plain text, encryption, hashing, and salting password storage. There are different formats in which passwords exist in an accounting system. ![]()
